Bio: Lauren Scott is an orchestra teacher at Charles F. Patton Middle School, a Teaching Artist for The Philadelphia Orchestra, a Violin & Viola Coach for PRYSM-YA in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra family, and a consultant for the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra. She is a graduate of Temple University and Stony Brook University and a recipient of the Max Aronoff Prize. In 2016, Lauren received nominations for Stony Brook's 40 Under 40 in Education and the Deborah Hecht Memorial Writer's Award. An active violinist and violist, Lauren has performed with Delaware Symphony, Charleston Symphony, and The Philly Pops, among others. Lauren enjoys her fair share of silliness and nonsense, but when it comes to musical matters she prefers to leave the fiddle faddle to Leroy Anderson. This blog aims to leave the trivial matters behind and focus instead on contemporary topics, teaching endeavors, and musical experiences that might interest her colleagues and students. In her free time, Lauren enjoys performing with the Morris Quartet, looking at kittens on Instagram, and exploring new places!
